Hiya ladies and gents! My name is Daphne and I'd appreciate it if you just call me "Daphne". However, if there is some strange reason you cannot pronounce "ph" and "ne"; I suggest you just call me Dee or better yet Daph! Or, just call me whatever you like; as long as it stays in the line and you have my consent. :)Anyway, enought about my name more about what I'm doing here in listal.
I'm a frustrated movie and book connoisseur.
Take note of the word "frustrated". I say frustrated, well mainly because I want to be one except that I'm still getting there. And by far, I am just a movie enthusiast. Just a book enthusiast. All in all just a young kid learning about the ways of the world.
In simple slang:
I'm a geek!
Well don't be to fussed up with the label. That's just one way to identify people even though it can never encapsulate identities.
So here's I work up with my ratings:
10 -Classic.
9 -Groundbreaking
8 -Oustanding.
7 -Excellent.
6 -Different. Above average
5 -Average
4 -Just typical. Not impressive
3 -Fuzzy
2 -Bad
1 -Shame
Anyway this isn't really final, as I've said earlier: there is much to learn. So to all who agree with me, let's celebrate and chat-a-ton with our ideas. If not, I'm up to agree to disagree! :D

"What a disappointment."

(A review of Blue Velvet)I expected so much from this film only to realize how much it falls flat to my expectations. I was expecting more mind fuck, more puzzles, more surprises and more than above average quality but all that I found was something much more or less mediocre. The story was already cliché and so was the characterization. I got the idea he was going into this dark and spiteful decadent kitschy feel but all in all it just wasn’t enough to birth into that dark and spiteful decadent kitschy feel it aspired to be. It was just not that convincing enough for me. I have only seen a few of his films so far and that perhaps have contributed to my lack of understanding and perspective. Perhaps one day, I’ll learn to appreciate the understated “brilliance” this film claims to be but for now, I just don’t and that’s all I can say.

Philosophy in Movies: Appearance & Reality (15 movies items)"I think Tarkovsky's Solaris in 1979 is better than Sodenbergh's version. The recent one was more focused on being a science fiction. The earlier one discusses more about philosophy...Just saying."
